Rachel Schmidt

Rachel Schmidt uses site-specific mixed media installations to create future myths that focus on the overwhelming possibilities that lay ahead if our current path in the Anthropocene remains the same. She is interested in futuristic visions of a world without natural ecosystems, where a synthetic biology governs how people coexist. From 2011-16, she was an artist in residence at the Arlington Arts Center and earned a Masters in Fine Arts from the Mount Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Rachel has exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at the Taipei Artist Village in Taipei, Taiwan.
